Fuzz

Fuzz is the rawest, oldest, and most unhinged form of dirt. While overdrive pushes a signal to simulate natural tube breakup and distortion hard-clips the signal while retaining some articulation, fuzz completely obliterates the original waveform, turning it into a massive, heavily saturated square wave.
