Raiju Fuzz

The Lore:

Raiju is the thunder beast in Japanese mythology. A fox, wolf, or cat that is made of lightning and has a howl like thunder.

Details:

The Raiju Fuzz is my take on the Shin Ei Super Fuzz from the 70s. Instead of using transistors, I’ve replaced them with op amps. This allows for better chord clarity and a much stronger octave. I dropped the original super fuzz tone control for a resonant low pass filter that is closer to what is seen on pt2399 delays to give it a bit more ethereal feel. At the tail end is a nice boost if you feel it needs a bit more something something when you’ve got it engaged. It sounds like thunder and lightning earning the name Raiju.

Controls:

• Level - the overall effect volume
• Octave - tune the octave
• Tone - resonant low pass filter
• Boost (internal trimmer) - increase the overall volume of the effect

Power Requirements:

• 9V DC, negative-tip (Boss-style), not included
• 10mA current draw when active
• No batteries (got to keep Mother Earth healthy for the cryptids 👽)
