The Lore:
Xaninos are the children of the Xanas who cannot be raised by Xanas, so they replace human children with their children. These children are raised without the knowledge of the humans until many unusual things happen, like the children turning into adults in a matter of months. The only way to determine that your children are truly Xanin is to put pots and eggshells near an open fire with the child. If your child is a Xanin, they’ll exclaim “was born one hundred years ago, and since then I have not seen so many egg shells near the fire!”
Crazy? Yes. Stupid? Maybe. Either way, it effectively describes what this pedal does: shape your tone and let you replace and blend additional tones in parallel with it.
The Details:
The Xaninos receives your signal and sends it through a SVF (state variable filter) that lets you split the signal into three bands: high pass, band pass and low pass. These bands can then be sent to an external effects loop or used as is and then blended into a final output which output volume is controlled by the master volume control. The circuit operates with a 9v bipolar power supply giving you plenty of headroom.
Controls:
-
State Variable Filter
- Freq - set the frequency cutoff for the filter
- Q - adjusts the resonance of the filter
- Shift - adjust the resonance mode between high and low
- Bypass (foot switch) - engage the effect
-
Per Band (Low pass, Band pass, High pass)
- Volume - set the overall volume for the band
- Phase - switch the phase of the signal
- Bypass (foot switch) - engage the effect loop for the band)
- Volume - the overall volume of the effect
Power:
- 9V DC, negative-tip (Boss-style), not included
- 10mA current draw when active
- No batteries (got to keep Mother Earth healthy for the cryptids 👽)
- To guard against the possibilities of ground loops occurring use a high quality power supply systems such as Strymon’s Zuma or Cioks DC7 to power all the pedals used with Xaninos and the loops.
